The Nissan Sunny has been launched in India. Prices start at Rs. 6.99 Lakh for the base petrol XE variant. The prices of the car are as follows:
- Sunny XE Diesel : Rs. 7.99 Lakh
- Sunny XL Diesel : Rs. 8.60 Lakh
- Sunny XV Diesel : Rs. 9.33 Lakh
- Sunny XV Diesel Premium (Leather) : Rs. 9.80 Lakh
- Sunny XV Diesel Premium (Safety) : Rs. 9.61 Lakh
- Sunny XE Petrol : Rs. 6.99 Lakh
- Sunny XL Petrol : Rs. 7.61 Lakh
- Sunny XL Petrol CVT : Rs. 8.91 Lakh

The Nissan Sunny facelift will be launched in India on 3rd July 2014.
What’s New?
The facelift is just cosmetic as was expected. Changes made to the outside may not be to everyone’s taste; these include new larger headlights, a new grille that confirms to Nissan’s new design philosophy, new bumpers etc. Changes on the inside include features lifted from the Micra facelift; for example a piano-black center console, new 3-spoke steering wheel, new music system with Bluetooth compatibility, reversing camera, parking sensors, new seat fabric design and door inserts have been added. Customers can also add leather seats or side airbags on the top end variant of the Sunny.

- Sunny XE Diesel
- Sunny XL Diesel
- Sunny XV Diesel
- Sunny XV Diesel with premium pack 1
- Sunny XV Diesel with premium pack 2
- Sunny XE Petrol
- Sunny XL Petrol
- Sunny XL Petrol CVT
As you can see the top end XV variant of the Sunny will only be available with a diesel engine.
Mechanically the Sunny has not been fiddled with, it is still powered by either a 1.5-litre petrol engine (98 BHP/134 Nm with MT and 100 BHP/134 Nm with CVT) or a 1.5-litre diesel engine (85 BHP / 200 Nm). The petrol engine with the manual gives back 16.95 KMPL whereas with the CVT it gives back 17.95 KMPL. The diesel engine has improved in terms of fuel-efficiency thanks to an ECU remap, the fuel-efficiency figure now stands at 22.71 KMPL as compared 21.64 KMPL earlier.

The Nissan Sunny facelift is close to its debut in India, according to reports. The car has already been launched/revealed in many markets including some Asian markets (where it is sold as the Almera) and the US (where it will be sold as the Versa).
As you can see from the images above (these are of the 2015 Versa, showcased at the 2014 New York International Auto Show), the car will feature a big redesign at the front and rear. Changes at the front include a huge headlamp, making the car loose the sleeker look it had before. The new grille follows the new design philosophy Nissan is employing across it’s global range of cars. Moce to the side and their are almost no differences as compared to the current model sold in India, save for the turn-indicator integrated ORVM covers. Move to the rear and you notice that Nissan has tried to make the design here more palatable adding the trunk-mounted spoiler to hide the ‘hump’ which made the rear look weird earlier.
Inside you get better interiors which are still inspired by the Micra hatchback, the steering wheel is new, the instrument cluster design is new and so is the centre console design. Expect the car to excel in the rear-cabin space department just like the current model.

Nissan Sunny has been the car that has been responsible for letting Nissan taste some success in India. It has been the only car in Nissan’s Indian portfolio that has been generating consistently decent sales numbers (the Micra sold more units only in June 2013) and has managed to compete with the likes of the Vento, Verna and City. Nissan recently gave its Micra hatchback a facelift and joining it soon will be Nissan Sunny facelift which has been caught completely undisguised on camera. The car gets tweaks both at the front and rear, and like the Micra the changes are for the better.
The car will get a revised front with the headlights getting a facelift and a slightly revised front grille as well. The front of the car will get a dash of chrome too. The rear will get slightly altered and the car will remain bog similar on the mechanical frontier. The alloys will get an all new design. Minor tweaks are expected on the interior as well. The picture here is not that clear but the facelift also includes a sun-roof, which we hope Nissan brings to India too.
The facelifted model has been caught in China and seeing the fact that the car is quite a popular one in India, it is expected to touch down on Indian shores as well. Regarding the future of Sunny and Micra, Etienne Henry, Nissan’s senior product planner has stated that, “What we intend to do with these products, Micra and Sunny, is to bring more character and more personality to the vehicle. And that’s the first direction. Another element is to bring more refinement and more premium-ness to the interior. These are the two key drivers for lifecycle activity of this product. You can expect some design changes – exterior, interior – as well as some new technology to come and support the car.”
The facelifted versions go exactly in sync with the statement of the planner. The facelifted car is expected to make a debut at the Chengdu Auto Show later in 2013 and go on sale towards the end of the year in China, with an Indian debut expected early next year.
