The C-SUV segment has posted an encouraging sales report for the month of October 2023. This is one of the fastest-growing market segments in the country. In fact, it has accommodated SUVs from all major carmakers in the last couple of years. That is what makes this segment incredibly crucial not just for the carmakers, but also for the potential buyers. We take a look at the sales as per the dispatched units reported by the factory to the dealers in the month of October 2023.

The Koreans dominate this segment with the Creta and Seltos together selling over 25,000 units. This is down to the sheer comfort and convenience amenities they offer. Additionally, they provide the option of multiple powertrains and attractive exterior styling. As a result, the customers are drawn to them. Then comes the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder duo. These are badge-engineered versions of each other. Together, they sold over 14,000 units in October 2023.

The new entrant, Honda Elevate, has also displayed an impressive performance with 4,957 units sold. This means that the public has responded well to the latest product from Honda. Then we have the Kushaq and Taigun siblings, together selling around 4,500 units. These are decent numbers as per Skoda and VW standards. Finally, the MG Astor struggles on the sales charts with just 890 units dispatched. It never really took off amidst stiff competition.

This SUV segment has been gaining popularity for a while now. The trend of SUVs is very much alive and kicking not just in India but across the globe. People want SUVs for their practicality and road presence. That is why you would find almost every carmaker in this segment. Going forward, it would be interesting to see if this growth and popularity continues as people have more and more options at their disposal.
