The new Himalayan now has a bigger engine in comparison to the outgoing model. It is constructed on a twin spar tubular steel frame and has a 43 mm USD front fork with 200 mm wheel travel at a linkage-type mono-shock at the rear with 200 mm wheel travel.

The new Himalayan is 2,245 mm long and has a wheelbase of a healthy 1,510 mm. Staying true to its adventurous characteristics, it comes with an adequate ground clearance of 230 mm. The seat height can be adjusted between 805 mm and 845 mm. The dry weight of the motorcycle is 181 kg and the fuel tank capacity is 17 litres. It comes with a 90-section 21-inch tyre at the front and a 140-section 17-inch tyre at the rear. The 390 Duke introduces a fresh 373.27-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, delivering 43.5 PS @9,000 RPM and 37 Nm @7,000 RPM of peak power and torque. It’s equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine boasts an 89 mm bore and a 60 mm stroke. In terms of its mechanical components, standout features include a 43 mm WP Apex USD front fork suspension with adjustable compression and rebound, offering 170 mm of travel. At the rear, there’s a WP Apex monoshock suspension with 5-step rebound and preload adjustments, providing 177 mm of travel.

It is built on the Split-Trellis frame (tubular) with a bolt-on subframe and comes with Ride-by-wire, Quickshifter and slipper clutch. Furthermore, the front tyre now boasts a 320 mm disc, while the rear tyre is equipped with a 230 mm disc. Dual-channel ABS is a standard feature across the entire range. Collectively, these enhancements greatly improve the bike’s adaptability to different riding conditions. The bike weighs 165 kg, and the seat height is fixed at 820 mm.

RE Himalayan vs KT Duke 390 – Design Comparison
The new Himalayan comes with some visual enhancements in comparison to the previous model. Some key design highlights include a new front windshield, tweaked LED headlamps, LED indicators, 21-inch front tyre, a longer suspension travel, a cover on the shock absorbers, enticing colour combinations, fuel tank protecting iron rods, body graphics, dual-tone seat colours, split-seat arrangement, LED indicators at the rear, a sleek exhaust pipe, sturdily built and throaty exhaust note. The tyres are off-roading focused. It has a 4-inch round fully round instrument cluster with phone connectivity, full map navigation (powered by Google Maps), media controls along with ride modes, a USB-C type charging port, and more. It sets itself apart from the outgoing model quite convincingly.

On the other hand, the KTM 390 Adventure has one of the most striking and extreme appearances in the market. It is unmistakably KTM with its quirky elements. At the front, there is that angular split LED headlamp cluster with integrated LED DRLs, sporty tyre cover at the front, loud body graphics, wide and robust foot pegs, two-part seat, height adjustable windshield to protect the rider in any condition, wide grab handles at the rear with a sleek tail section, black side body panels and more. It certainly looks more adventurous than the Himalayan.
