New Tata Safari vs Old Model
This post comes from sumitkataria597 on Instagram. The vlogger captures a side-by-side comparison of the two models. One could clearly see the upgrades to the exterior styling. The most notable element on the new model is the full-width LED strip which culminates in LED DRLs on either side, the unique shape of the headlamp cluster on the extreme edges of the bumper, the elegant front grille, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels (in comparison to the 18-inchers on the old model), the connected LED taillamps, etc. While the overall silhouette remains almost identical to the old version, there are enough aesthetic enhancements to make it look a lot more modern.

Similarly, on the inside, the entire layout is fresh. This starts with the new-age steering wheel with an illuminated digital logo in the centre, a completely revamped dashboard layout, a new centre console with HVAC controls, a digital driver’s instrument cluster, a large free-standing infotainment display and more. In fact, this is the first time the Safari gets ADAS functions enhancing the active safety equipment a lot. Not to mention, the Harrier and Safari duo have scored the highest points in the Global NCAP testing for any Indian car, leading to a full 5-star safety rating.

However, the one aspect which remains the same is the powertrain. It retains the familiar Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo diesel engine, producing a respectable 170 PS and 350 Nm of maximum power and torque. The transmission options remain unchanged, with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. However, there’s a possibility of a more accessible 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine being introduced in the near future for the Harrier and Safari models. The Safari facelift ranges from Rs 16.19 lakh to Rs 27.34 lakh, ex-showroom.
