This is an exciting off-roading competition between a Maruti Jimny a modified Mahindra Thar and other SUVs. The location is rather remote, and the owners were attempting to take their SUVs through the water. Both of these SUVs are considered top contenders in their category. Notably, the Maruti Jimny was introduced just a few months ago, marking the first time it’s available in a 5-door variant. This is the fourth generation of the Jimny, a well-regarded lightweight off-road vehicle in the global market. In contrast, the Thar has been the reigning champion of off-roading SUVs in India for many years. Let us delve into the details of an off-road showdown between these two formidable vehicles.

Maruti Jimny vs Modified Mahindra Thar
This video comes from Small Town Rider on YouTube. This channel features content around popular off-roaders. It captures a hardcore off-road challenge between various SUVs. Most of these have some sort of customization on them. The Jimny seems to be the only one with stock hardware. In the first part of this video, the SUVs attempt a challenge on a slope with tiny rocks. Most SUVs are able to make it to the top. However, it took multiple attempts since the slope was too steep and the SUVs have heavy aftermarket tyres. But Jimny is able to perform this task quite easily.

Then the team decided to go for a river crossing. Note that the surface is not man-made. Hence, there are no safety measures in place. The car owners attempt anything and everything that comes their way. In this challenge, the Thar outshines everything else. However, it is down to the skill of the driver rather than the capabilities of the vehicle itself. It is quite impressive how he was able to manoeuvre his way out of the obstacle even when it looked like the vehicle had to be towed away. Nevertheless, the Thar did get stuck once when the water entered its air filter. This is as difficult an off-roading challenge as any you would find on YouTube.

What We Think
It cannot be emphasized strongly enough that engaging in this activity is incredibly foolish. Off-roading SUVs are intended to transport their owners to remote locations, but that doesn’t justify mistreating them. Deliberately subjecting these SUVs to such challenging situations is an open invitation to trouble. Mishaps can occur with ease. As an example, in this case, the Thar’s engine abruptly failed. Such actions can also result in lasting damage to critical components. We don’t recommend anyone take their personal vehicles in such treacherous conditions.
