For years, the Maruti Dzire has been the most popular C-segmenter, enjoying a demand in private as well as commercial market. In fact, the sub-4-metre sedan has seen a higher demand than even its hatchback sibling. This, alone, goes on to highlight the importance of the entry-level sedan for its carmaker. No wonder, then, that, there’s been enough chatter on how the fourth-gen Dzire would precede the all-new Swift in India. However, even as the new-gen hatchback was recently revealed in a near-production guise, we’re yet to hear any official word on the sedan derivative. That, though, hasn’t kept us from visualising what the next-gen 2024 Maruti Dzire could look like.

As has been the case with the second- and third-generation models, the fourth-gen Dzire will measure less than 4 metres in length. But unlike the second generation, where the boot was more of an afterthought, the third generation Dzire was developed alongside the corresponding version of the Swift. This is exactly what’s happening even with the fourth-gen model. And if the outgoing versions are anything to go by, there would be enough to distinguish the new Dzire and the Swift from each other. Safely expect an extended rear quarter to accommodate the extended boot. Even the roofline is likely to be more sloping for a less boxy, sleeker look. Up front, the headlamps could see slight revisions. We’ve replaced the L-shaped LED signature with a larger, C-shaped one for a more premium look. Even the alloy wheel design could be slightly different on the sedan derivative.
Inside, the upcoming generation of Dzire would be much like the new Swift. That said, it will likely get a lighter colour palette for a more premium ambiance. While the Swift gets a sporty all-black interior, the Dzire could get a beige-black scheme for a more upmarket look. The equipment level would be at par. The highlights here include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver display. Given the market dynamics, the India-spec Swift as well as the new Dzire could even offer an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and wireless charging. However, we’re yet to have an official confirmation of the features the India-spec vehicles would come with.

New Engine and Higher Fuel Mileage
The upcoming fourth-generation Swift will mark the debut of the all-new Z12 engine. It will replace the K-series 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder powerplant. The carmaker appears to have concentrated on enhancing fuel efficiency, aiming for an impressive mileage of up to 35 kmpl with the incorporation of hybrid technology. The fact that even the show car featured Bridgestone Ecopia tires shows the focus on achieving a high mileage. Reports indicate that a standout feature of the Z12 engine lies in its unique cylinder design. Each cylinder possesses a capacity of 400cc, fitting within the optimal volumetric efficiency range of 350cc to 400cc. This configuration focusses on enhancing the engine’s torque, which proves particularly advantageous for urban driving. The emphasis is on bolstering low-end pulling power, ensuring a smoother and more robust performance in city traffic.
