Here is a modern avatar of the iconic Maruti Gypsy. Off-roading is incredibly popular, especially among the younger generation. In response to this growing interest, an increasing number of automakers are now focusing on this niche market. The Maruti Jimny, the latest SUV to join the Indian off-roading scene, stands out as one of the most successful and capable lightweight off-roaders globally. The Gypsy was the successor to the original Jimny and represented the second generation, while the latest 5-door model signifies the fourth generation. Here is a unique version of Gypsy.

Maruti Gypsy in Modern Avatar
These images come from themotorwagon on Instagram. They bring a rather enticing model of the legendary light-weight off-roader. The overall silhouette remains identical to the original Gypsy. But there are modern elements including an LED round headlamp unit with integrated LRD DRLs, horizontal LED DRLs on the bumper, an off-road-focused bumper, typical clamshell bonnet, pronounced wheel arches with black cladding, off-road alloy wheels with broad tyres for maximum traction, a soft-top layout, a 3-door configuration, a side step for easier ingress and egress, tailgate-mounted spare tyre, LED taillamps, a rugged rear bumper and more. All in all, every bit of this Gypsy has been modernised.

Interior and Features
What is interesting about this version is that the interior has been completely transformed as well. There are premium bits like the upholstery, the door panels, the dashboard layout, AC vents, a digital display for the HVAC, a premium steering wheel, leather on the dashboard with intricate stitching, and much more. Essentially, this would remind you of a luxury car rather than a barebones Gypsy. In any case, this has to be the most modern rendition of the Gypsy in a long time.

What We Think
We are intrigued by how accurate and attractive this rendition is. It is bound to give many ideas to the Gypsy owners about modifications. However, we must mention that most car customizations are illegal in India. The law doesn’t allow many changes to the original construction of a car. Hence, you must be wary of it. In fact, you could approach your local RTO and ask for permission. There are a few things that are allowed as per the law. Once you do that, you can get it written in your registration certificate. In that way, you won’t have trouble with the authorities later on.
