In this latest video, the South African media reviews the Made-in-India 5-door Jimny. Note that the South African market receives tons of products from India. Until now, the SA market, and all other international markets, used to have the 3-door version of the Jimny. In fact, this is the first time in the legacy of the lightweight off-roader that a 5-door iteration has been launched. This is done keeping in mind the practicality which was lacking in the 3-door avatar. As people become more price-conscious, they wish to invest in practical cars. That is the intent behind this new Jimny too.

South African Media Reviews 5-Door Jimny
This video comes from APEX on YouTube. The hostess has the top 4×4 automatic trim of the Jimny. Along with that, there is a Jimny enthusiast who already drives the 3-door version. Both of them share their opinions about the longer Jimny. Since the 3-door Jimny owner loves the SUV, he drives the 5-door version as well. He is taking it to a group meeting of Jimny. He loves the fact that the 5-door version enhances the practicality and room inside the cabin for large families. The extended wheelbase ensures higher space in the rear compartment including the boot.

As far as the driving mannerisms go, he feels that it doesn’t feel bulky. That is a great thing since its popularity is due to the fact that it is a compact off-roading machine. It still remains mighty capable even though the breakover angle has been affected slightly due to the longer wheelbase. There is also a premium grille area on the outside with the use of chrome. On the inside, he welcomes the large touchscreen infotainment display which allows wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. While there are enough changes to the outside and inside, it doesn’t deviate from its utilitarian credentials. Hence, they love it for that.

The Suzuki Jimny in India is equipped with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that produces a respectable 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Power is distributed to all four wheels through Suzuki’s renowned ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 system, which includes a low-range transfer case and locking differential. The vehicle boasts a ground clearance of 210 mm and impressive approach, break-over, and departure angles of 36°, 24°, and 50°, respectively. We shall have to wait to know the prices of the Jimny in South Africa.
