Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Congress Lok Sabha leader, was recently seen riding a Royal Enfield sans helmet. This video was quick to go viral and several internet users criticised Chowdhury for flouting traffic rules. However, he commented that he was alone at the time, and he has no objection if the police decides to impose a penalty. The Congress veteran even said,”If the police penalise me, then there is no problem. But there was no one at the place where I was riding the bike.”

Congress Leader Rides Royal Enfield Without Helmet for 11 Km
Chowdhury, the Member of Parliament from Berhampore, was present at the inauguration of a bypass road in Berhampore. During the event, a video captured him riding a Royal Enfield while several riders from his entourage were also on bikes. While only a few of the riders accompanying Adhir were wearing helmets, Adhir himself was seen with a cap instead of a helmet. In the video, he appeared to be enjoying the ride, smiling and cheering, and even took his hands off the handles at one point to adjust his cap. He later deliberately took his hands off the handlebars while saying something.
As reported, Adhir decided to travel to the location on his motorcycle, covering a distance of approximately 11 kilometers on his Royal Enfield. Along the way, he interacted with people on the roadside, exchanging greetings as he rode by. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has had his share of controversies. He faced suspension from the Lok Sabha on August 10 due to disruptive conduct but managed to have the suspension lifted on August 30 after presenting his case to the Privileges Committee.

A Huge Critic of Central Government
As the sole Congress Member of Parliament from West Bengal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took on the role of leading the party in the Lok Sabha back in 2019. He is widely recognized for his vocal opposition to the central government and has consistently spearheaded Congress’ efforts in Parliament against the ruling party. Occasionally, his critiques of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee have diverged from the stance taken by the central leadership of the Congress party. Despite instances where the Congress leadership and Banerjee have come together at opposition gatherings, Chowdhury has maintained his unwavering criticism of the TMC leader.

The world wouldn’t have come crashing down.” Notably, the Chief Ministers of Congress-governed states had chosen to abstain from the dinner.
