A source close to the development informs us that some Maruti Suzuki vehicles will soon get Autonomous Driving Assistance System (ADAS). This comes at a time when this safety-enhancing technology is becoming increasingly common on mainstream vehicles. The country’s largest carmaker is set to join the fray and start offering this feature on the Fronx and Grand Vitara.
In the highly competitive automotive market, Maruti Suzuki is acutely aware of the technological advancements in vehicles from rival brands. Notably, models such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Alcazar have taken a significant leap forward by integrating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). As these innovative safety-boosting features become increasingly popular among consumers, Maruti Suzuki is determined not to be left behind in this race.

Maruti Grand Vitara to Receive Level 1 ADAS
The first Maruti Suzuki vehicle to receive ADAS technology will be the Grand Vitara. Recognizing Maruti Suzuki’s traditionally pragmatic approach, it is likely that they will initially opt for ADAS Level 1 features, prioritizing safety and convenience. This strategic move would enable them to position the Grand Vitara directly against the recently updated Kia Seltos, a key competitor in the market. By gradually incorporating more advanced features, Maruti Suzuki can ensure a competitive edge.
Maruti Suzuki’s introduction of ADAS features will extend beyond the Grand Vitara. The Fronx will likely become the second vehicle to receive this technology. Subsequently, models like the Baleno could receive this technology but that’s certainly a while away. Notably, the European version of the Baleno already incorporates a suite of ADAS features. So, it wouldn’t take much to launch it on the India-spec model. Furthermore, considering that the Fronx is based on the Baleno, it would be a fair and logical step for these advanced safety and convenience features to be introduced in the sub-compact crossover.

Launch in November?
Incorporating ADAS on the Baleno will really set it apart in the premium hatchback space. It will be the only vehicle in its segment to offer this feature. This will add on to some really class-leading features it already offers. One such novelty is the heads-up display – a feature not seen on any of the rival. On the other hand, incorporating ADAS in the Fronx will help it fight against the Hyundai Venue. As far as a timeline is concerned, there’s nothing fixed. But given how quickly Hyundai forecasted the upcoming festive season and the demand for such features in vehicles, it won’t be surprising to see if Maruti Suzuki vehicles end up launching ADAS features from as early as mid-November.
