Toyota Rumion hit the Indian market in August 2023. It has been available in three trims: S, G, and V. The MPV shares aplenty with the Maruti Ertiga, including the powertrain options. In a recent development, Toyota has suspended bookings of the CNG version due to overwhelming demand. Meanwhile, bookings for the petrol models continue unaffected.

“We launched the all-new Toyota Rumion in August this year and have received an overwhelming response from our customers who have been waiting for a Toyota vehicle in the B-MPV segment. We are heartened to see the increasing inflow of enquiries and healthy bookings for the all-new Toyota Rumion. The demand has surpassed our expectations, resulting in a long delivery time across variants, especially for the CNG option. This has necessitated us to temporarily halt bookings of the CNG option only to avoid customer inconvenience due to a longer waiting period. However, we continue to accept bookings for the petrol variants of the Toyota Rumion.”

The CNG version is offered exclusively in the base S variant. This is unlike the Maruti Ertiga, which comes in two trims. The Rumion S CNG comes with features like halogen projector headlights, LED taillights, full wheel covers, manual AC, a 4-speaker music system, and keyless entry. In terms of passenger safety, it includes dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts (second row only), electronic stability program (ESP), and hill-hold assist. Priced at Rs 11.24 lakh (ex-showroom), this CNG-powered MPV makes for a good option for fleet buyers and those looking for low running costs.

Toyota Rumion S CNG is equipped with the same 1.5-liter petrol engine found in the standard versions. However, in the dual-fuel petrol + CNG guise, this engine generates 88 PS and 121.5Nm of power and torque, respectively. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and boasts a fuel efficiency of 26.11 km/kg. In contrast, the petrol variant produces 103 PS and 137 Nm. and offers an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
