As per the official press release by Maruti Suzuki, the lifetime sales of the Dzire are over 25 lakh. This comes out to be 19 units per hour. It was first introduced back in 2008. By FY2009-10, it achieved the milestone of 1 lakh sales. The 5 lakh sales milestone was accomplished in FY2012-13. Interestingly, the 1 million (10 lakh) milestone arrived in FY2015-16. Thereafter, there was an exponential rise in the sales of the compact sedan. Finally, in FY2023-24, the are over 2.5 million (25 lakh) happy customers of the Dzire. This is a testament to the insane demand for the sedan in our market.

The Maruti Dzire is equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 88 hp and 113 Nm of maximum power and torque. You have the choice of either a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox. Additionally, there’s a CNG variant available, which produces 76 hp and 98 Nm of peak power and torque. The Dzire’s price range falls between Rs 6.51 lakh and Rs 9.39 lakh, ex-showroom. Its primary competitors include models like the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura.

It is not surprising at all to see the Dzire hit this seemingly incredible milestone. Maruti Suzuki has over 40% market share in the Indian automobile market. It has been the leader since time immemorial. Its cars boast impressive mileage figures and low maintenance costs which are the primary factors for a price-conscious market like India. On top of that, it offers tons of practicality and the easy availability of spare parts. Hence, there is no reason why people won’t make it the best-selling compact sedan in the country.
