A viral video clip shows the driver of the Mahindra XUV700 in the back seat as the SUV drives itself. This is yet another addition to the undesirable list of people misusing the ADAS feature of a car. XUV700 is the flagship SUV from the Indian auto giant. There are myriad tech, convenience, safety and connectivity features to pamper the occupants. In fact, some features are so opulent that you would find it in cars only a segment above. But that also means that people get more chances to misuse some of these amenities. This is the latest example of that.

Driver in Back Seat of a Moving XUV700
This video comes from xtreammotivators219 on YouTube. The visuals capture a rather disturbing sight. The XUV700 driver is making videos while sitting in the second row of the vehicle. There is no one in either the driver’s seat or the co-driver’s seat. He uses the ADAS function with an adaptive cruise control feature which accelerates and decelerates the vehicle as per the traffic conditions. This active safety feature is also capable of steering the car if there are proper lane markings on the highway. It is designed to intervene in emergency cases where the driver is not able to react quickly enough.

The Mahindra XUV700 presents a choice between two robust engines. One is the 2.0-liter turbo petrol direct injection mStallion engine, delivering 200 hp and 380 Nm of peak power torque. Alternatively, you can opt for the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, available in two states of tune. The first variant offers 155 hp and 360 Nm, while the second one provides a formidable 185 hp and 420 Nm of peak power and torque (450 Nm for the automatic version). Both engine options can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. For the higher-end models, an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is available. The price range for the Mahindra XUV700 spans from Rs 14.01 lakh to Rs 26.18 lakh, ex-showroom.
