This is one of those rare cases where an ownership review of the Jeep Compass is shown after more than 2 lakh km. You would not come across too many Compass owners who would’ve used their SUVs for this long. Compass is a prominent SUV from the American carmaker in our market. It aims to give the taste of Jeep to Indian customers without having to break the bank. However, it has not enjoyed the kind of success Jeep would’ve liked. The biggest reason for that is its high running and maintenance costs. Owing to the high costs of spare parts, people often refrain from buying the SUV. Here are the details of the ownership experience of this man.

Jeep Compass Ownership Review After 2 Lakh Km
This video comes from Arun Panwar on YouTube. He interacts with the owner of this Compass. Shockingly, he reveals that the SUV has been driven for almost 2.2 lakh km. That is simply unheard of. In addition to that, he lists out the issues he faced for all these years. This is a 2018 model. He often makes frequent trips because of business. Firstly, the things he loves about the Compass include its driving dynamics like acceleration and handling. He loves the driving pleasure and thrills it offers. Furthermore, he is impressed with the build quality of the SUV. Those are the aspects he loves the most about his SUV.

On the other hand, he mentions that the Compass is extremely expensive to own and maintain. For instance, for every service trip, it costs him around Rs 16,000 if no additional spare part is installed. This is the normal price of a single service. If, by any chance, the car needs something to be replaced, the bill could easily go upto Rs 35,000. That is quite disappointing. He even mentions that the infotainment screen costs a jaw-dropping Rs 2 lakh at the official Jeep dealership. Hence, he had to look to the aftermarket for various spare parts. On top of that, the waiting periods for components at the Jeep dealerships are high. Overall, these factors make it a pain to own this car.

What We Think
We understand both sides of the argument. Jeep makes some of the most fun-to-drive SUVs out there. In fact, in that regard, there is no worthy rival to the Compass. However, owning a Jeep product could be extremely expensive and troublesome. Firstly, the spare parts have astronomical prices which is beyond logic. Secondly, even if you decide to spend that amount of money, the waiting times to fix the car due to various reasons are high. Hence, you will have to remain without a car for a long stretch of time. Therefore, if budget is no constraint and you want to experience its driving dynamics, you could still opt for it. Otherwise, there are other vehicles which will cost you much less. This includes the initial price, as well as long-term ownership costs.
