Triumph Speed 400
The Triumph Speed 400 is powered by a 398-cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. It is a 4V engine with DOHC. It produces 40 PS @8,000 RPM and 37.5 Nm @6,500 RPM of power and torque. The bike uses a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. The frame is a hybrid spine/perimeter, tubular steel with a bolt-on rear subframe and an aluminium alloy swingarm. The bike has 17-inch tyres both at the front and back. At the front, it uses 43 mm USD forks with 140 mm travel. At the rear, there is a gas monoshock RSU with an external reservoir and pre-load adjustment with 130 mm travel.

It comes with disc brakes on both wheels with dual-channel ABS as standard. The front brake uses a 300 mm disc, and the back brake has a 230 mm disc. The Speed 400 can hold up to 13 litres of fuel, which is great for long rides. You won’t need to take it to the shop for maintenance until you’ve ridden about 16,000 km. Finally, it comes with a warranty that lasts for 2 years, and you can ride as much as you want during that time without worrying about the warranty running out.

KTM Duke 390
The latest KTM Duke 390 comes with a 398.7-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which generates 44.8 hp and 39 Nm of peak power and torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The bore and stroke are 89 mm and 64 mm respectively. It gets a Trellis frame with a die-cast aluminium sub-frame with a curved swingarm. Additionally, it has a 43 mm WP Apex front fork suspension with compression and rebound adjustability with 150 mm travel.

At the rear, the Duke 390 gets a monoshock suspension with a 5-step rebound and preload adjustability with 150 mm travel. Apart from that, there is a large 320 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. Just like the others, it gets dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike weighs just 171 kg and the seat height is 820 mm lending a commanding position for the riders.

Bajaj Dominar 400
In contrast, the Bajaj Dominar 400 features a 373-cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine sourced from KTM. Delivering 40 PS of power at 8,800 RPM and 35 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM, the bike is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch for smoother shifting. Its structure includes a perimeter frame, a 43 mm inverted fork at the front, and a gas-charged monoshock absorber at the rear with preload adjustment. The front and rear brakes comprise a 320 mm disc and a 230 mm disc, respectively, with single-piston callipers and dual-channel ABS. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, the Dominar 400 boasts a 13-litre fuel tank and 157 mm ground clearance. It is backed by a 5-year or 75,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.

Price Comparison
When it comes to the prices, the KTM Duke 390 is certainly the most expensive of the lot. The margin is quite large. But it can be justified by the performance it offers. On the other hand, the Dominar 400 and Speed 400 are priced somewhat similar. Therefore, if price is the deciding factor for you, you are effectively left with just two options.
