Hyundai Motors seems to have jumped on the success wagon with the launch of the fluidic design philosophy. The fludic designs are being made available on almost every car in the company’s portfolio and the car become quite the good looking cars when they get the fluidic treatment. Hyundai has just launched a new sedan, HB20S in Brazil which is an i20 based sedan and seeing the fact that Indian and Brazilian markets are similar, an Indian launch of Hyundai i20 sedan is impending too.
The HB20S is 4.2 metres long and has a similar wheelbase as the i20 hatchback, 2,500mm. The car will come with a boot space of 450 litres which is quite good too. The HB20S sedan will be offered in Brazil with a 1.0 litre engine that develops 80 BHP and a 1.6 litre engine that develops 128 BHP. We expect the car to get the 1.2 litre petrol motor of the i20 and the 1.4 litre diesel engine of the i20 when the car gets launched in India.
Hyundai recently had announced that they’ll be launching a Compact Sedan, a MPV and a hatchback that sits between i10 and i20 in India and we think the HB20S will be the car that will join the new car launches from Hyundai in India. It will sit above the compact sedan and below the Verna making it just right entry level sedan. It will compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Sail, Toyota Etios and Tata Manza when it gets launched in India.
The car will get manual and automatic transmission options and seeing that more and more cars are getting automatic transmissions in India, we think the automatic version of the car will be launched in India as well. Hyundai wants to take Maruti Suzuki head on in India and the i20 based sedan surely looks like the one that will give Hyundai another segment to compete in. 4 new launches from Hyundai are expected in the coming time, isn’t it great because the fluidic cars are the best looking cars that are on sale.
