As in words of Ian Callum, Director of Design of Jaguar, “No design project has given me greater pleasure than the creation of the F-TYPE. It is a project I have looked forward to from the moment I joined Jaguar, and it’s one that’s given my team and I great satisfaction. The F-TYPE is a sports car that is true to Jaguar’s design values-beauty of line and purity of form – and I-m honored that the World Car of the Year jury has recognized out work with this award.”
This statement speaks everything in itself. The occasion was the moment when Ian was asked to express his pleasure for receiving the World Car Design of the Year award. Among all the entries that were submitted for World Car Design, around 43 cars were considered by the 66 membered jury of the World Car of the Year awards. But it was F-TYPE that finally won all hearts and reached the top. As in words of the advisory panel of the event, they greatly admired the longer wheelbase, flared fenders, and short over hangs that gave this car a distinct look. The exterior front of the car well spoke of the elegance that is signature mark of Jaguar. The round surfaces and horizontal proportions altogether gave an enhanced look to the vehicle. And more than that it was the interior design dynamism that left them awestruck. The car in their opinion is completely driver oriented, the seats have been given an unmatched shape while the grip bar for the passenger smoothly integrates with the larger center console.
The award was received by Adrian Hallmark who is the Global Brand Director of Jaguar. The event was organized as a part of 2013 New York International Auto Show. He expressed his immense pleasure for the achievement and added that F-TYPE is the first ‘one of its type’ sports car that has been launched in last five decades. The architecture and design of the car has no match in the world and is an ideal combination in respect to price and performance.
