Old Mahindra Thar Converted to New Thar
This video comes from HER GARAGE on YouTube. The YouTuber brings us a fresh modified Thar. Interestingly, this is the old 2017 model which now looks like the latest-gen unit. She interacts with the creator of this SUV. At the front, there is a large grille with round headlamps, a clamshell bonnet, chunky fenders with turn indicators and the bumper is on its way. On the sides, the car shop has fabricated the original dimensions and design to come up with a 1:1 model. This includes side pillars and the third quarter. At the rear, there is a side-opening door and a place for the original taillamps.

Cost
The car modifier confirms that it took him around a year to create this unique customization. The reason for that is quite simple and straightforward. In order to arrange the parts to design this, the owner had to collect these parts from the scrap market and insurance companies. In fact, they have created some body panels themselves. There is no ‘jugaad’ on this Thar. Everything is original or created in-house. In fact, it will still take around 1 month to finish. If you would like to do the exterior modification to your old Thar, you will need to spend around Rs 4.5 lakh. On top of that, if you also want the interior changed, the total cost would be around Rs 5 lakh.

What We Think
We recognize and appreciate the enthusiasm of individuals who wish to personalize their vehicles to achieve a distinct look. However, most car modifications are not legal in India. Consequently, such alterations might lead to interactions with law enforcement agencies. Resultantly, we strongly advise our readers against undertaking extensive and elaborate vehicle modifications. If you still desire specific customizations, it’s extremely important to begin by consulting your local Regional Transport Office (RTO). If your modifications adhere to the legal guidelines, you can have them officially documented in your vehicle’s registration certificate. This proactive approach will help you sidestep potential issues with authorities in the future.
