Over 8 Hyundai Exter Micro SUVs Booked Every 10 Minutes Since Launch!

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s largest exporter since inception, recently announced that the recently introduced Exter micro SUV has bagged more than 50,000 bookings. This pretty much translates into a rather overwhelming response from the car buyers. The Exter went on sale in India on July 10, 2023 and is available a starting price of INR 5 99 900 (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Exter Booking Trends

• Bookings for Hyundai EXTER zoomed from 10 000 to 50 000 in less than 30 days of launch.
• Sunroof variants contribute an overwhelming 75 % to the total bookings.
• More than one third of the bookings are for the Automatic version which comes with industry 1st AMT with paddle shifters.

Above are some interesting revelations that Hyundai Motor India has made about the bookings of its latest offering. With over 40,000 bookings made since the launch, it can be calculated that more than 1250 order are being placed every day. This corresponds to over 52 bookings every hour or over 8 every 10 minutes! Moreover, the carmaker reveals a huge demand for variants that come with an electric sunroof. The Exter is available in four variants – EX, S, SX and SX(O). The two higher trims offer an electric sunroof, which means one doesn’t need to opt for the top version for this novelty feature. The carmaker even reveals that over 33% bookings are for the AMT version. This is clearly an indicator of the fast-growing demand for cars that feature an automatic transmission. It’s noteworthy that the Exter is currently the only car that offers paddle-shifters with an AMT. However, it’s not clear if this has played a role in the huge demand for the auto versions.

Price

Prices of the first-ever micro SUV from Hyundai start at Rs 5.99 lakh onwards (introductory, ex-showroom). With this, the entry-level Exter costs pretty much the same as the base Punch. On the same time, it’s Rs 20,000 cheaper than the base Citroen C3. Prices of the Tata Punch start at Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile the Citroen C3 costs Rs 6.16 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). Prices of AMT variants start at Rs 7,97 lakh, while CNG variants start at Rs 8,24 lakh.
