Maruti Fronx Outsells Tata Punch
Drawing from the latest data, Maruti was able to sell an impressive 13,220 units of the Fronx. Note that this is the new member in Maruti’s portfolio. It is based on the Baleno premium hatchback. Overall, it was the 7th most-sold vehicle in the country. On the other hand, Tata Motors sold a respectable 12,019 units of the Punch micro SUV. In the same month last year, Tata Motors sold 11,007 units of the Punch. This marks a cool and steady 9% rise in sales on a yearly basis. Compared to the Punch, the Fronx is around 10% more popular.

Carmakers’ Overview
No prizes for guessing the number one carmaker in the country. Maruti Suzuki sold over 1.52 lakh cars in India in July 2023. This is up from 1.42 lakh a year ago indicating a healthy 6.5% growth. The second place is captured by Hyundai with over 50,000 cars sold. It had almost a similar sales performance in the same month last year. Clipping at its heels is the Indian auto giant, Tata Motors at 3rd place with over 47,000 sales. It has maintained this number from a year ago too. Mahindra, Toyota and Kia feature next on this list with 36,205, 20,759 and 20,002 sales respectively.
