Bajaj Auto is preparing to strengthen its position in the sub-600cc segment with the introduction of new models, including the purported twin-cylinder Twinner 500
Rumours of a twin-cylinder Bajaj, dubbed Twinner 500, first arose over a year ago. Now, though, we might have got a step closer to launch of the biggest-ever motorcycle to wear the Pulsar moniker. Rumours about a 500-cc bike from Bajaj have been circulating for a long time now. But the trademark filing that took place around a year ago serves as a sort of confirmation. It appears that we might soon witness the actual sports bike in action. Here are some details.

While the bike’s design remains undisclosed, considering Bajaj’s existing 250-cc bike offerings, we can anticipate several features for the Twinner 500. These might include LED headlamps, both fairing and naked variants, a sculpted fuel tank, a digital console, broad tires, stylish alloy wheels, a twin-exhaust setup, a sporty seating arrangement, dual-channel ABS, sleek taillamps, and an array of sporty design elements to achieve a complete sports bike appearance. If the Twinner 500 lives up to these expectations, Bajaj could be well on its way to establishing its dominance in the 500-cc segment as well.

Bajaj might explore the possibility of launching the Twinner bike in collaboration with other brands. One potential partner could be Triumph. The two recently jointly developed an affordable middleweight bike for emerging markets like India, Triumph 400. Additionally, Bajaj has been actively involved in developing a 490-cc engine with KTM, intended to power the 490 Duke, 490 Enduro, and 490 Adventure motorcycles produced by the Austrian bike maker. If the Twinner isn’t a product of the Bajaj-Triumph association, there remains the likelihood of a Bajaj-branded model emerging from the new range of Katooms, which could be sold under the Twinner name.

What We Think
Regardless of the brand Bajaj chooses to partner with, the key objective remains to make a significant impact in the 500-cc segment market. This move would undoubtedly be a major milestone for Bajaj’s portfolio, which caters to both entry-level, everyday affordable bikes and the preferred sports bikes of enthusiasts. If all goes according to plan, we could expect to witness the presence of the Bajaj Pulsar Twinner 500 on our roads as early as next year.
