The Indian and Chinese automotive markets are quite similar in terms of customers and pricing and the companies usually follow a similar approach for both the countries. So when we see that a car is being tested in China, we tend to think about its Indian prospects first thing after the spyshots. Today we have for you the spyshots of the Japanese Domestic Market Suzuki Solio which is the premium sibling of the Suzuki Wagon-R. The car has been present in the Japanese market for a while now. Is is being speculated that Suzuki Solio India launch may happen after its launch in China. Maruti Suzuki India did showcase Solio and MR Wagon in Auto Expo of 2012.

The Suzuki Solio follows the tall boy design philosophy of the Wagon R and has that MPV-ish stance as well. Speculation have suggested that Suzuki intends on stretching it a bit and adding a third row of seating to the car. The spyshots do not clearly suggest if it is going to come with a 3rd row of seating.
The MPV segment is heating up quite fast in India and we could very well see the country’s first sub-4 metre MPV in the form of Solio and also it could be Suzuki’s first sub-4 metre MPV as well. The car will be powered by 1,242 cc petrol motor which would be churning out 90 BHP. It will be mated to a CVT transmission but if and when it comes us, we believe the power will be derived from the 1.2 litre K-series petrol motor that does duty in the Suzuki’s B segment hatchbacks.
The car might also make its way to the India shores quite earlier than we expect it to because the company’s Ertiga has been received very well in India. The Wagon-R also has a huge fan following in the country due to the immense space it offers at a budget price. Add to it a third row of seating, the length being less than 4 meters, we could very well have a car that gives the buyers a family car look instead of the butch Compact SUV-ish look. We will await the further developments on this and will let you know as soon as something comes to our knowledge.
