Honda Amaze is one of the most talked about cars which will launch in India in 2013 along with other important ones like the Ford EcoSport and Nano Diesel etc. We recently reported to you that Amaze has reached ARAI for testing in Pune and the car is ready to Hit Indian roads soon. Also some reliable sources have confirmed the launch in April 2013 in India. In fact, the marketing campaigns are on the way with some banners leaked on the web.
Interestingly, the Brio based compact sedan, Honda Amaze has been specially developed for Asian countries including India, Thailand and Indonesia. But as per a recent report by Detik OTO, the Amaze launch in Indonesia has been pushed to mid of 2014. The reason behind this delay for launch of Amaze in Indonesia is the shrinking market size for small sedans in the country. As per Marketing and After sales service Director of Honda the compact sedan market is not so hot and is considered to be niche in Indonesia.
Contrastingly, the compact sedan market is one of the booming markets in India as the overall volumes in this segment have increased quite significantly in past two to three years which indicates that more and more people are moving up from entry level cars to premium hatch and from premium hatch to entry level sedans as the purchasing power is increasing. The special tax benefits on the sub-4 meter sedans makes them very attractive on the pricing front which attracts even more buyers.
The price difference between a hatch and entry level compact sedan is only around 20% which makes many first time buyers to also opt for a compact sedan rather than a hatchback. Honda Amaze is quite sough after car especially because of being first Diesel engine car from Honda in India. Honda cars has huge fan following in India because of the premium looks and high quality of its cars. Many of them were waiting for an affordable Diesel engine car from Honda’s stable which will be fulfilled once the Amaze hits the roads in India. The car is already doing good in Thailand and is expected to be a game changer for Honda in India. We will keep you posted on the updates, stay tuned to Car Blog India.
