Royal Enfield 750cc Engine to be Based on 650cc Motor
Currently, the Royal Enfield offers Twins Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650 bikes. The two-wheeler manufacturer is reportedly developing a 750cc unit that will offer more power and torque. However, it will be a variation of the outgoing 650cc parallel-twin engine with an oil-cooling setup. On the other hand, the new 450cc mill is expected to come with a liquid-cooling setup. The new engine is aimed at 350cc bike owners looking to upgrade their rides.
The outgoing 648cc parallel-twin motor produces 47 bhp of power at 7250 rpm and 52 Nm of torque at 5250 rpm. The 750cc is said to offer slightly better performance but at reduced engine speed. This will make the upcoming bike more suitable for relaxed rides. The Royal Enfield 750cc engine will first be seen on a Bobber-style motorcycle (codenamed ‘R2G’). However, the company is likely to offer the new 750cc platform with multiple body styles (Adventure, Cruiser, Street racer, etc).

What We Think
Is a 750cc engine going to be the limit? It seems that Royal Enfield is aiming for more performance-oriented motorcycles, with reports suggesting that engines larger than 750cc will be electric. With this approach, Royal Enfield can cater to a broad range of motorcycles, including models with engine capacities of 350cc, 450cc, 650cc, and 750cc. The primary target markets for this new engine are likely to be North America, the UK, and Europe, but considering the brand’s popularity, it will also be available in the Indian market. Interestingly, many custom RE’s with their 650cc engine modified to 865cc have come to light. This indicates a clear demand from a consumers with larger paying capacity who desire more power.
