Specs
While there are no announcements regarding the powertrain of the Ioniq 5 N, it would make in excess of 600 hp of peak power, as per various reports online. In addition, many mechanical changes will be there to ensure an exhilarating performance. This includes two sets of 10,000 km endurance testing at the Nurburgring. Also, the main challenge with any performance EV is thermal management. The battery and its components must be at an optimal temperature range to ensure the highest performance. Hence, innovative cooling techniques will be developed. There will also be 400 mm disc brakes to harness the energy from regen braking.

What We Think
Since every sort of electric car is being developed, it is natural that we would get the electric versions of our popular road-legal performance cars as well. The instant torque of EVs is surely a positive to sequester incredible acceleration. But the challenges include the battery and thermal management systems. Performance scenarios often involved driving vehicles to their limits and that is where the most heat is produced. If appropriate cooling systems are developed to tackle that issue, the future of performance cars would be completely different.
