The Nexon is in dire need of a comprehensive update and Tata Motors might have to do that by renaming it entirely.
The 2023 facelift of the Tata Nexon might be called the Frest. Tata Motors recently registered the name ‘Frest’ in India. Actually, they had filed for the trademark back in 2022, and it was accepted this week. There could be a couple of strategies that the Indian auto giant could pursue with this new name. We reckon it could be the name of the facelifted model of the Nexon that is slated for arrival pretty soon. Alternatively, it could also be the name of the CURVV SUV that will launch in a couple of years. However, our bet is that Tata might use it to make the new Nexon feel fresh and exciting again.

Why We Feel Tata Fresh Could be the Nexon Facelift
Nexon has been around for 7 years now. Sure, there was a mid-life facelift with aesthetic changes and the addition of some new-age features a few years ago. However, it is still underpinned by the Indica’s X1 from many years ago. That is where the new name could do the trick. This upcoming version of the Nexon will bear more thorough updates to the features list and powertrains. That is why a new identity could easily be established with the new name.

In terms of the new features, we might see the inclusion of the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is already available in the Harrier and Safari SUVs. In addition to that, there could also be the arrival of a TFT instrument display for the driver to make it look more modern in the face of stiff competition. Finally, the other big update could come in the form of ADAS features. ADAS features are in trend right now as people become more conscious about the safety capabilities of their cars.

Specs
Another area where the facelift model of the Nexon is slated to receive massive changes is under its hood. Tata Motors could equip this model with the new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that will make 125 hp and 225 Nm of peak power and torque. This is higher than the 120 hp and 170 Nm offered with the current model. Additionally, to make things more exciting for the driving-enthusiast community, it could pair it with a sporty and quick-shifting 7-speed DCT gearbox replacing the AMT unit. However, the diesel mill might still continue with the existing engine-powertrain combinations. It has a 1.5-litre turbo unit that makes 115 hp and 260 Nm of peak power and torque with a 6-speed manual or the AMT automatic.
