Mahindra Thar vs Maruti Jimny Drag Race
The video has been uploaded by Aayush ssm on YouTube. The YouTuber is performing a drag race with his friend. On the count of three, he presses the accelerator pedal of the Thar, while his friend takes the Jimny. As soon as the race commences, the Thar takes a decisive lead and the Jimny is nowhere close throughout the course of the race. The drivers had the AC ON for this race. Thereafter, the drivers were swapped to test the consistency and accuracy of the results. However, the results remained the same as the Thar was just too powerful for the Jimny in a straight line.

Specs Comparison
The petrol version of the Thar used in this race is a 2.0-litre mStallion direct-injection turbo mill that generates an impressive 150 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed Torque Converter automatic (as used in this case). On the other hand, the Jimny is powered by a sole 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that churns out a decent 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. It has the option of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

What We Think
We understand that YouTubers these days use the medium of drag race to determine the capabilities of two vehicles. However, this might not be entirely healthy as drag races could have a long-time impact on the cars. Cars are not generally driven in this manner under hard acceleration and in a straight line. Hence, it is not a great idea to do drag races on your personal cars. We would advise our readers to not get involved in such stunts for safety reasons on a personal level or with respect to the mechanicals of the car. Also, it doesn’t represent the full picture as one would hardly drive in this fashion on a daily basis.
