Ever since the launch of the Maruti Jimny, owners have commenced taking it to the off-roading tracks to test its capabilities.
In this latest video, a Maruti Jimny is being rescued by a Gypsy. Gypsy is the second-generation model of the iconic Jimny from the 1970s, whereas the 5-door Jimny that was just launched in India is its fourth-generation model. Off-roading enthusiasts have been waiting for the Jimny for a long time. But Maruti wanted to launch the practical 5-door model to attract a wider audience. Now that it is finally here, people have started to test its prowess off-the-tarmac. Here is one such case where a lot of SUVs are taken off-road.

Maruti Jimny Rescued by Gypsy
The video has been uploaded by TORQUED on YouTube. The vlogger shows that there is an entire convoy of SUVs that is taken off-road. In this convoy, one could see a couple of Jimnys, Gypsy, Fortuner, etc. During the first adventure, the Jimny beaches due to the longer wheelbase compared to the 3-door trim that is sold abroad. It is a common issue that the long-wheelbase version will face. However, with the right technique, this could easily be dealt with, to some extent. In subsequent rounds, one Jimny got stuck quite badly. That is when the Gpysy arrived and towed it away safely.

In other adventures, Jimny was able to perform quite well. But the Gypsy that was overcoming the challenges had its bumpers removed and had off-roading tyres installed. That made a lot of difference in the way it was performing. Its driver had no worries about damaging it. On the other hand, the Jimny was just a few days old and the owner had to take care of it. As a result, he was driving it with slight caution. The team also took it to a man-made off-roading circuit where it performed well. In any case, they are impressed by the capabilities of the Jimny.

What We Think
It is one thing to take the SUV off-roading and completely another thing to specifically put it through harsh terrains. Hence, in the second case, the chances of damaging the vehicle are increased tremendously. This is because there is no proper track and people are just willing to do anything around other people. Whereas on occasional off-roading scenarios, chances are that you wouldn’t put your car on any terrain that is not used frequently. We would recommend our readers to never get involved in such activities by watching videos. You might end up permanently damaging your vehicle which might need a lot of money to repair.
