The German luxury car maker, Mercedes Benz has revealed its line-up of models that it will be launching this year in Indian car market. The models include the GL Class SUV, the B-Class hatchback and the CLA compact saloon which will be followed by the A-Class. First of all, to roll out of the Mercedes India stable will be the GL Class luxury SUV. This SUV draws its styling heavily from the Mercedes M Class and is slated to be launched very soon in the Indian market. The GL Class, will be priced above the M Class since it carries a bigger engine and extra loads of gadgetry and comfort. Mercedes launched the M Class in 2012.
Next up the line is diesel version of the B-Class hatchback. Currently, the company has launched the petrol version of this premium hatchback/ sports tourer. However, with a huge difference in the pricing of the petrol and diesel, the sales of the B Class have failed to pick up fairly. The B Class diesel is expected to feature a 1.8 litre engine that will churn out close to 134 BHP of power and this engine will be coupled to a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. Customers are anticipating that Mercedes launches the diesel version as soon as possible to take advantages of the unbalance in the price of the two fuels.
Mercedes has also confirmed that they will be bringing in their CLA Compact saloon car to the Indian market. Revealed recently at the Detroit Motor Show held this month, the company showcased the almost-ready production model. Although the company has not given a fixed date for the launch, it is expected to arrive sometime later this year. Another expected launch will be the A-Class hatchback which the company is expected to launch sometime in the middle of 2013.
Like the B-Class, the A-Class is also built on the Mercedes’s versatile MFA platform. But unlike the B-Class, the A-Class will be made available right from the beginning of its sales commencement alongside the gasoline model. The A-Class is also expected to get the same engine options as the B-Class.
