Maruti Suzuki’s roadmap for the next couple of years leaked on to the interweb a little while ago and the most surprising bit of information was that Suzuki were going to give their hatchback Swift a mid-life refresh despite the car commanding waiting periods of around 6 months in most places around the country. We were left wondering what were going to be the changes in the 2013 model and today we have the pictures of our imagination.
Suzuki Malaysia has just introduced the latest version of the Swift which has become longer, wider and meaner. The refresh is quite comprehensive given that most of the companies usually give their cars a cosmetic upgrade for mid career refresh including Suzuki. But from the Malaysian Swift that has been launched, it is quite a worthy upgrade over the outgoing model and worth the wait if you were in the market for a Swift.
The Swift will get a redesigned front and looks meaner than before. The front bumpers are also tweaked to lend it a bit more masculinity. The car has increased in length by 95mm which means more leg room for the passengers and at the same time gets wider by 5 mm which will give you a bit more comfort level when you would be squeezing in people. It has been priced between starting RM 77,800 which is approximately Rs. 12 Lakhs in INR.
On the drivability frontier, it gets a better steering system for a better feedback. It gets a reworked front MacPherson and rear torsion beam suspension system, some real good looking 16 spoke alloys( not that the current ones are bad ) and it gets key less entry and push button start system which we doubt will be present on the Indian variants of the car. It gets a new black-silver colour scheme on the interior front and rest of the feature list remains the same.
The Swift already had the right ingredients to be a best seller and with the facelift, the deal just got sweeter. The car still has waiting periods and that waiting period list is bound to go north with the longer and wider model that will make its way to the Indian showrooms. Also the car is slated to get some new colour schemes to make it a bit more youthful. Which colour would you like to see on the Swift?
