Tata Motors have been meaning to introduce the facelift version of its most popular compact SUV in the country, the Nexon.
The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift has been spotted undergoing testing on roads. Nexon is the highest-selling compact SUV in Tata’s camp. It has consistently featured on the list of the top 10 highest-selling cars on a monthly basis for a long time now. Its 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP, latest features, multiple powertrain options and striking bold looks are some of the reasons why people are opting for it. However, the competition in the segment has increased tremendously in the last couple of years. Hence, the updated version of the Tata Nexon is long overdue. These latest spy shots have been shared with Car Blog India by our reader, Atul Dangi. These are from the Satara-Kolhapur highway. Incidentally, the test mule was even captured driving near a current version of the SUV. From this sighting, it’s clear that there is no change in the stance of the vehicle.

2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Design & Styling
The latest visuals capture a heavily camouflaged version of the SUV. Despite that covering, we are able to make out the silhouette that we have known for years now. The side profile and window frames remind us of the Nexon. Also, there have been multiple reports online suggesting that the exterior of the facelifted Nexon would borrow design elements from the CURVV electric SUV that was showcased as a concept by Tata Motors last year. Hence, we could expect a split-LED headlamp setup with LED DRLs on the bonnet and the main headlamp cluster on the bumper unlike the current-gen model. Also, we would get redesigned front and rear bumpers, an LED light bar at the rear and a muscular stance.
Specs
This is where things will get interesting. Tata Motors has upgraded its lineup to meet the BS6 Phase 2 norms. Hence, we will get the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine making 110 PS and 260 Nm of peak power. Also, we might get an all-new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that will produce a whopping 125 PS and 225 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission options will continue to include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT and an AMT. That will ensure that potential Nexon owners could choose from a wide variety of engine-gearbox options. There are not many compact SUVs in the segment that offer both petrol and diesel mills which will be a distinct advantage for the Nexon.

2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Launch Date and Price
The facelifted Tata Nexon is slated to be launched around July-August this year. At the moment, the prices range from Rs 7.80 lakh to Rs 14.50 lakh, ex-showroom. Being a thoroughly updated model, the next iteration of the Nexon would command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over these prices. It will locks horns with the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza and Mahindra XUV700 among others.
New Features
Yet another key area which could decide the fate of the SUV is the features. Modern cars are coming equipped with the latest tech, convenience and connectivity features which the customers appreciate. It looks like Tata Motors will not leave any stone unturned in offering the most gadgets for the users. This could include things like a flat-bottom steering wheel with a two-spoke design. This is something that has been seen in some spy videos. The unit is inspired by the CURVV concept. It features toggle switches at either end for touch-sensitive buttons with haptic feedback, a redesigned centre console with a new touch panel and toggle switches for the HVAC (also inspired from CURVV concept).

In addition to that, we could also get to experience a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with the latest functions, a digital instrument cluster (seen on the new Harrier and Safari), wireless charging and ADAS functions. Note that ADAS has become a trend in modern cars and there are many reports on the internet suggesting that the facelifted Nexon might also finally get it. But confirmed details will be revealed closer to the launch.
