Maruti has launched the Jimny off-roading SUV in our market at an attractive introductory price and the deliveries of the same have commenced.
This video clip captures the first delivery of the Maruti Jimny in India. Jimny is an affordable 5-door lightweight off-roader that was widely anticipated in our market. It was a long time coming because the 3-door version was showcased at the Auto Expo more than 3 years ago. However, Maruti designed the first-ever 5-door version of the Jimny specifically for India. Indian customers are price-conscious and focus on practicality. Hence, a 5-door version makes sense since it has a useable boot space and enhanced ingress and egress characteristics.

Maruti Jimny First Delivery
The video clip has been uploaded by car bala 08 on YouTube. It showcases the entire occasion of the first delivery by the owners of the popular SUV. The family is seen taking the wraps off the SUV at the dealership. Clicking a photograph during this moment has become a trend lately. The family members also perform a cake-cutting ceremony although it depends on the dealership. In any case, the customers have started receiving the SUV in real life. Note that Jimny already received over 30,000 bookings even before the prices were announced.

Maruti Jimny comes powered by a 1.5-litre K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine developing 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. There is also a dedicated ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case and locking differential to propel the iconic SUV over any terrain without breaking a sweat. It has a ground clearance of 210 mm and decent approach, break-over and departure angles to tackle off-roading scenarios with authority. The prices range from Rs 12.75 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh, ex-showroom.

Jimny is sure to grab attention as the trend of lifestyle off-roading SUVs is on the rise in India. That is why Mahindra Thar achieved such high success in the past couple of years. Maruti is offering even more practicality that the rivals like the Thar and Force Gurkha lack. However, the 5-door versions of these SUVs have been spotted testing on roads multiple times. Until they arrive, Jimny has a clear appeal and path to success in our market as a fuel-efficient and capable off-roader at a relatively affordable price point.
