There have always been tall claims when it comes to listing the positive environmental benefits after the mass adoption of electric cars.
The world temp will just reduce by 0.0002 degree Fahrenheit if all countries are able to achieve their EV target by 2100. This is an astonishing statistic that has the potential to question everything that has been said about the benefits of the mass adoption of electric cars. While it has become clear in the last few years that EVs are not powered by clean energy sources and hence, can’t be considered ‘zero emissions cars’, the extent to which this statement holds true can be quite unbelievable. That is exactly what was unearthed recently.

World Temp Reduction After EV Target is Achieved
The video clip has been uploaded by meravahanmerisampatti2401 on YouTube. It captures a snippet from the US court where a discussion is going on about the claimed advantages of EVs. There were some pretty incredible stats mentioned in this clip that could shake the very foundation on which the entire EV narrative is built. The video mentions that the EVs require 6 times as much mineral input as a regular ICE-powered car. Also, there is a mention of the fact that the US wants 60% of its new cars to be electric by 2030.

Furthermore, it was confirmed that if 50% of cars were electric in the USA today, the power grid won’t be able to have enough power to charge them all. But the most shocking part comes in the latter half of the video where it was ascertained that if all the EV targets of the entire world are achieved by 2100, the total carbon emission reduction will result in sinking the global temperatures by just 0.0002 Degree Fahrenheit. That questions just about every positive that has ever been associated with EVs to date. It begs the question of whether it is really worth it to go electric if the consequence of this entire saga is minuscule and almost insignificant.

What We Think
As someone who is constantly in touch with the latest developments in the world of automobiles, it doesn’t surprise us to know that there are some concrete long-term challenges with EVs. However, there are a lot of other factors that must be taken in before passing a judgement about the effect that electric cars will have on the environment. Not to mention, there is extensive research going on as we speak in this field which means that there are solutions being developed to address a lot of issues that are currently in front of the industry. Hence, we must be informed about all the aspects of this field before jumping to conclusions.
