As more and more modern cars keep getting ADAS features, there are people who find innovative ways to misuse them.
A disturbing video has emerged where the driver of a Volvo XC90 has misused the ADAS feature. Volvo makes the safest cars in the world since time immemorial. In addition to a premium cabin, its prime focus is on the safety of the passengers. For that, the build quality, and active and passive safety equipment are aplenty. The Swedish carmaker has been exemplary when it comes to safe cars. However, there are people who find ways to misuse such crucial and potentially life-saving features to put their own and others’ lives in danger. Here are the details.

The seatbelt has been fastened to fool the system into believing that the driver is present.

As the video shows the highway, there are other vehicles on the road. We don’t need to tell you how perilous this is. The driver is not only risking his health and safety but also of everyone around. In the case of an emergency, he is so far away from the brake pedal that the crash will be inevitable. What’s worse is the fact that such posts are celebrated on the internet. This is totally unacceptable. Such idiots misuse the very features that are available to safeguard the safety of the passengers. We have recently seen this trend with Mahindra XUV700 owners too.

What We Think
We lose thousands of lives each year in road accidents. Most of these crashes take place due to negligence and disregarding traffic rules. This latest case is a prime example of that. We recommend our readers to always follow traffic regulations in order to minimize the risk associated with undesirable instances. It is high time we follow traffic protocols. Also, ADAS features are designed to aid the driver during emergency situations and are not meant to substitute the driver. If you find anyone performing such activities on roads, make sure to report them to the authorities so that proper action could be taken against them.
