The Germans started the party when Audi launched the facelifted A4, A6 and A8 sedan. Mercedes Benz, the veteran took some time to realize what it needed to get right to get back to its number 1 position in the luxury segment. The facelifted C-class may be their bread and butter but E-class is what meant Class. There is a cult following for the brand and after various leaks and spy shots , we have for you all the (official) information you would wish for regarding the 2013 Mercedes E-Class. And yes, it has come to the party.
The E-class now replaces the quad-headlamp for twin headlamps with optional LEDs and the bumper is aggressive as it could look. It lends the car a whole new look up-front. When you come to the rear , you find LED tail lamps with a new bumper design. The buyer gets an option of wood or metal finish on the interior. The interior has been revamped completely with a new instrumentation console, center console , air vents and the steering wheel touted as the electro-mechanical steering.(What did not change then? )
What is under the hood would be your next question. The petrol engines see the arrival of direct injection technology to give it a boost in power and cutting down on emissions. A new 4 cylinder turbo petrol and a 6 cylinder twin turbo find their way in addition to the existing V6 and V8 engines. These engines will be mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox or a 7 speed automatic gearbox. The 4MATIC all wheel drive will be offered on top end variants and it gets the sporty direct control suspension.
Safety is what the Germans have always laid emphasis on the E-class is no exception. In fact it gets a host of new features. It gets a radar based collision prevention system with auto-braking, a stereo Multi-purpose camera which scans the roads for obstacles and thus preventing collisions , active lane assist , Distronic plus ( it is essentially the adaptive cruise control ), parking assist, traffic assist and high beam assist. Phew ! You need to be a real bad driver to meet with an accident in this car.
Now that the Mercedes has arrived , let the party begin.
