Honda is planning to launch a new mid-size SUV in June this year. It will be available for purchase in India’s third quarter of this calendar year. The upcoming car is positioned as a direct rival of the Hyundai Creta. It will also compete with the likes of MG Astor, VW Taigun, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The test mules of the upcoming SUV have been spotted on public roads. A new rendering gives us a hint of the aesthetics of the upcoming SUV.

As per recent reports, the upcoming Honda SUV will be based on the same platform as the fifth-generation Honda City. It will have an overall length of around 4.3 meters. The design is heavily influenced by the international model of the latest CR-V. On the back, it is said to offer LED tail lamps and spoilers (similar to the latest WR-V). The new digital render shows the Honda SUV with a sportier look. It gets muscular character lines and creases. Additionally, you can see large-sized alloy wheels, aggressive bumper sections, fog lamps, flared fenders, sleeker headlamps, and LED DRLs.

The upcoming Honda SUV will be powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 121 hp. It will be paired with a six-speed MT or a CVT for transmission. The company will likely add a 1.5L e:HEV strong hybrid petrol option later. Both these motors will come from the City. It is unclear whether the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine will be offered. It will get a new electronic architecture with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and an all-digital instrument cluster.
