Citroen is beginning to execute its plan of launching new SUVs in our market and the 7-seat version of the C3 Aircross seems next on that list.
The 7-seater Citroen C3 Aircross is undergoing extensive testing across various terrains in the country. The regular C3 is a sub-compact SUV that locks horns with the mega-successful Tata Punch in our market. Now, the French carmaker plans to expand its portfolio to capitalize on the burgeoning Indian automobile market. Having realised that Indian customers are price-conscious and look for practicality, this 7-seat SUV will be right up their alley. Here are the details.

The video has been uploaded as a vlog by Kaushik Vlogs on YouTube. He is on a journey in the beautiful mountains somewhere in North India. The YouTube is heard being captivated and mesmerized by the beauty of the snow-clad peaks in front of him. As the family drives through the twists and turns of the mountain terrain, a fully-camouflaged SUV appears on the road in front of them. He stops and asks the driver which car is it, but the latter doesn’t disclose that.

After driving for a while, they found the same model yet again. This time, the SUV is making a U-turn on the road exposing its silhouette wrapped in camouflage. It looks like the 7-seat version of the C3 that must be undergoing high-altitude testing in the mountains. However, the YouTuber was not able to decipher which car it actually was. Although it is wrapped, one could see the sleek LED DRLs on the bonnet and a silhouette resembling the regular C3. Also, this looks significantly larger than the C3 in terms of dimensions.

While Citroen has not confirmed anything yet, we expect it to carry the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that powers the regular model too. However, it could be tuned to make more power and torque compared to 110 hp and 190 Nm in the regular guise. Apart from a few visual distinctions, the interior layout will also be slightly different. Being around 4.2 m in length, it will be a great rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. There is likely to be an electric version of it too.
