The month of August 2012 was pretty happening with a couple of important launches. In this article we bring you the sales report of major car manufacturers for the month of September 2012. So let us take a look at the gainers and losers in this month.
Maruti Suzuki India Car Sales Report In September 2012
At last, India’s number one car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has shown a cumulative rise (domestic + exports) of 9.8 % in September 2012 with 93,988 units as against 85,565 units in September 2011. While the domestic cars sales showed a 12.7 percent rise with 88,801 units in September as against 78,816 units during the same month last year, the exports of the company have fallen by 23 %. The passenger vehicle sales of the company have increased by 3.4 % with 68,957 units as against 66,667 units is September 2011. Utility vehicles including Gypsy, Vitara and Ertiga have expressed a whopping growth of 1,653 % with 7224 units in September this year as against 412 units sold in September last year. Omni and Eeco sales grew by 7.3 % at 12,620 units as against 11,737 units last year.
Hyundai India Car Sales Report In September 2012
Hyundai Motors India, the second largest car manufacturer and country’s largest car exporter is facing a tough time with a 7.3 % drop in the cumulative sales. The domestic sales of the company have come down by 14,2 % with 30,851 units in September 2012 as againts 35,955 units in September 2011. However the exports have expressed a growth of 3.9 % with 22,707 units as against 21,849 units sold in September last year. Segment wise the A2 league (Eon, Santro, i10 and i20) has sold 46,414 units, the A3 segment(Accent and Verna) 6287 units, A4 Segment Elantra sold 781 units, the A5 segment Sonata 20 units and lastly the SUV Santa Fe 56 units.
Mahindra & Mahindra India Car Sales Report In September 2012
Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading SUV manufacturer recorded a cumulative growth of 10 % in sales with 48,342 units sold in September 2012 as against 44,137 units sold in September 2011. The major chunk of this growth comes from the passenger vehicle space which has shown a rise of 22 %. The domestic car sales for the company grew by 10 % with 45,263 units last month as against 41,136 units sold in September 2011. The company’s four wheeler commercial vehicles have registered a cumulative growth of 7 %.
Tata Car Sales Report In September 2012
Tata Motors’ commercial and passenger vehicle sales in September 2012 were 75,773 units, including exports. This figure expresses a 4 % dip over the figures recorded in last year’s corresponding month. The company’s total domestic sales for commercial and passenger vehicles were 70,332 units which is a 3 % drop over 72,566 units sold in September 2011. The company’s exports sales are down by 12 % with 5441 units in September 2012 compared to 6217 vehicles in September last year. Tata Nano’s sales are up by 87 % with 5491 units compared to last year September‘s 2936 units. Sales for Indica series were at 7936 units as against 10,282 units in September 2011, a 23 % dip. The Indigo range recorded a 52 % drop with 3706 units as against 7793 units in September 2011. Utility vehicle line-up consisting of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture sales have dropped by 15 %.
Honda Car Sales Report In September 2012
Leading premium car manufacturer Honda SIEL Cars India has sold 5,508 units during September 2012 as against 4,758 units during the same period last year reporting an increase of 16%. The company sold 35,440 units during April to September 2012 as against 24,191 units in April to September 2011. The company hopes to pace up during the festive season. Individual car sales are as follows: Brio – 2064, City – 2815, Jazz – 556, Civic – 47, Accord – 23 and CR-V – 3.
Toyota India Car Sales Report In September 2012
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has registered a drop of 5 % in September 2012. The company sold 12,115 units during September 2012 as against 12,807 units in the corresponding month last year. However, as always, Toyota Innova has outsold all its siblings with 5858 units sold in September 2012 as compared to 4756 units in September 2011, thereby registering a 23 % growth. Alike Innova, Fortuner also registered a growth of 21 % with 1301 units as against 1078 units in September 2011. The Etios series has shown a dip of 26 % with 4440 units in September 2012 as against 5926 units in the same month last year. Camry sold 85 units last month while Corolla Altis sold 454 units.
Ford India Car Sales Report In September 2012
For the month of September 2012, Ford India has expressed steady sales in domestic car market with 7794 units sold as against 7801 units in September 2011. Ford India is strategizing more and more and come festive season, it expects to perform better. Although the sales were steady for the previous month, the company needs to work harder and we are sure it will do so.
General Motors(Chevrolet) India Car Sales Report In September 2012
General Motors India has reported a decline of 26.78 % in its sales with 7403 units sold in September 2012. Last year in the same month, the company registered sales of 10,112 units but this year the sales are down by a considerable percentage. The September sales include 4539 units of Chevrolet Beat, 2136 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 254 units of Chevrolet Spark, 320 units of Chevrolet Cruze. The manufacturer is reluctant on sharing the sales details about Aveo, Captiva and Optra for the month of September 2012.
Nissan India Car Sales Report In September 2012
Nissan India has exhibited its sales figures for the month of September 2012 and interestingly it has registered a growth of 64.24 %. This year in September, Nissan India sold 3574 units as against 2176 units sold in the same month last year. The two important models being sold by the company, Nissan Sunny and Nissan Micra, together sold 3567 units in the month of September. The latest addition to the portfolio, Evalia MPV has received 160 bookings since its launch. Premium products such as X-Trail, Teana and 370Z also added a little to the growing sales.
Audi India Car Sales Report In September 2012
Audi India has registered a growth of 82 % in the month of September 2012 with 1011 units sold. In September 2011 the company had sold 555 units but this year in September, the sales were appreciable. The year to date performance of Audi shows a 52 percent rise with 6417 units sold from January to September 2012 as against 4210 units during the same phase last year. As per the company it is the Q series of cars: Q3, Q5 and Q7 which have strengthened the portfolio of the company and continue to do the same.

Skoda India Car Sales Report In September 2012
Skoda Auto India has registered a healthy growth of 39 % with 2312 units sold in September 2012 as against 1670 units sold in September 2011. The company has not disclosed more information on its sales but confidently says that during the festive season, it will pace up and will perform better. Skoda Auto has announced new variants of the Rapid to boost the sales of its volume pulling sedan.
