New Volkswagen Beetle has been officially unveiled and all the details are revealed. The new Beetle convertible has a soft top which can be opened and closed automatically in the car with speeds of up to 30 MPH, has a classic design to it and is powered by a modern 1.2 Litre TSI Petrol engine which produces a peak power of 105 PS. There is also an option of two more engines in the lineup, a 1.4 litre TSI petrol with 160 PS of peak power and 2.o Litre engine with 200 BHP of peak power.
Apart from the two petrol engines, the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible also comes with two diesel engine options which are 1.6 Litre TDI and 2.0 Litre TDI with 105 PS and 104 PS of power respectively.

There are a couple of months left before the unraveling of the 2013 version of the German iconic car, the Volkswagen Beetle at the Los Angeles Auto Show. But an online car website, carspyphotos.net has got hold of spy pictures of the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible without any camouflaging at all. We are wondering what Volkswagen was carrying out with the vehicle. One thing for sure is that the car was not being tested since there is no testing equipment or camouflaging present. Talking about the vehicle, it is quite clear from the spy pictures that the overall design language of the car remains similar to the previous models.
The only change the car receives s the soft-roof top in place of the hard top. However, with the roof down, the car looks very beautiful and would be more appealing to the masses. The car retains the same visual features at the front, side and the rear. The Beetle spotted in the spy pictures features stylish steel wheels and better designed hub caps. The 2013 version will be getting standard 17 inch alloys. Under the body, things are expected to be the same. The Beetle shares its platform with the Volkswagen Jetta and should be carried over in the 2013 version too.
Under the hood, the Beetle is powered by a 2.5 litre inline 5 cylinder engine that produces 170 BHP of power. The power unit is mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox or a 5 speed manual. Volkswagen also started offering a diesel version of the Beetle starting from the 2013 version for the fuel-efficient buyers. The diesel mill is a 2.0 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder unit producing 140 BHP of power and 236 lb-ft of torque. We expect the 2013 drop top version of the Beetle will be offered with some improvement in fuel efficiency tuning by Volkswagen. Currently the 2013 petrol powered Beetle returns about 22 mpg while the diesel counterpart returns 39 mpg.
