It is astonishing to see what some aftermarket car modification houses are able to achieve. This Mercedes G-Wagon replica made from a humble Tata Sumo represents just that.
This is a great modification job done on a Tata Sumo to make it look like the mighty Mercedes G-Wagon. Tata Sumo has been an extremely successful product in the Indian market particularly in the last decade. Its affordability, practicality and ruggedness made sure that people, especially in the remote corners of the country opted for it. That is why you would find one almost anywhere. On other hand, the G-Wagon represents the most luxurious way of going on off-road adventures. Here is what happens when we mix these two physically.

Mercedes G-Wagon or Tata Sumo?
The video clip of this post has been shared by daya_karan and bigdaddymodifiers on Instagram. It shows a combination of 3 G-Wagon replicas that look extremely close to the original. However, we think that the closest representation of a Tata Sumo as a G-Wagon is the blue one. At the front of this version, there are trademark round LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a massive and rugged bumper, horizontally stacked LED fog lamps on the extreme edges of the bumper and more.

In addition to that, the grille and the tri-star logo make it look completely like a premium SUV. However, it is from the side profile that the resemblance with the Tata Sumo becomes apparent. The boxy silhouette is a mark of the G-Wagon but the Indian market witnessed it in Sumo for the longest time. In addition, there are large elegant alloy wheels, massive side steps to enhance the ingress and egress for the passengers, and straight design lines on the side panels.

At the rear, the profile is a dead giveaway of the actual credentials of the origins of this SUV. The boxy stance is reminiscent of the Sumo and the lack of a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate helps people differentiate it from a proper G-Wagon. Nevertheless, the modification house has tried hard to make it look premium with a sturdy bumper and horizontal taillamps. All in all, the efforts that went into creating this must be appreciated.
