Over the past months we have come across numerous camouflaged pictures of the upcoming Land Rover Range Rover which we shared with our readers but today we have the official pictures of the 2013 Range Rover. As we were expecting the 2013 iteration of the Range Rover features an evolutionary design rather than a revolutionary design.
Talking about the design first, it is clearly visible that the recently launched Range Rover Evoque does have an influence over the new Range Rover. The 2013 Range Rover comes with the following exterior features:
- Sleeker swept-back headlamps
- A three step grille
- Redesigned front bumper that looks much cleaner now
- New alloys
- A backward sloping roofline
- New tail lamps
- Redesigned door handles
Rest of the characteristic features such as floating roof, black door pillars, two-piece tailgate have been carried over from the previous model.

Majority of improvements are there which make the iteration even more appealing. The body of the 2013 model is 39 % lighter than its predecessor. The new emission norms for a car of this size are too demanding and therefore the company opted for a new pressed aluminium monocoque body which is 317 kg lighter than the previous model. This has helped the company to make significant improvements to the overall wheelbase – 100 mm longer wheelbase now, wheels – wider wheels now, interior – more space inside the cabin, and the legroom – 140 cm of extra legroom at the rear.
On the technical front once again the company has made remarkable changes. The new all-aluminium body is much stiffer both in terms of torsion and bending. It features the latest electronic ride and stability control equipment including a re-engineered all-independent air suspension system. It also comes with an upgraded version of Terrain Response 2 system which reads terrain conditions more quickly and accordingly adjusts traction control, transmission, air suspension, differential automatically.
On going inside the car you will come across some beautiful improvements. First and foremost the cabin design is influenced by Range Rover Autobiography edition therefore you get a TFT screen which outputs a digital display instead of the conventional dials. Along with the TFT in the front, an integrated 8 inch screen in the center console is also there. The gear shift has also been replaced with a better one. The Meridian audio system has also been carried over from Evoque. The company will also offer an Executive Class seating package featuring ultra luxurious two-seat configuration.
Under the hood the of the 2013 Range Rover will be three engine options: a 3.0 litre V6 Diesel, 4.4 litre V8 diesel and 5.0 litre V8 diesel. Although the exact power output figures are yet to be known, the output is expected to range between 370 BHP and 510 BHP. All the engines will come mated to an 8 speed ZF automatic transmission.
The price of the new model for different countries will only be announced at respective launches.
