The production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV has commenced in the USA. It will take place at GM’s Factor Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center. There was a brief halt in the production to make space for the Silverado EV for a few weeks. Now, Hummer SUV (in its ICE iteration) was discontinued in 2010 prior to which it was the go-to choice for a whole bunch of celebrities from across the world. Widely regarded as the status symbol, the electric version of the SUV was unveiled in 2021.

Production of 2024 GMC Hummer EV
GM had to fix the issue of the sealing off the enclosure of the high-voltage battery pack for which it had to recall 735 units out of the 850 units delivered in 2022. Thereafter, GM was busy preparing the much-awaited Silverado EV. But the 2024 version of the Hummer EV will now start rolling off the production line as the bookings reached 90,000 in September 2022. This makes it one of the most in-demand electric SUVs and pickup trucks in the world right now.

The GMC Hummer EV comes in Pickup and SUV body type. The most powerful iteration comes with 3 electric motors enabling a sophisticated 4×4 configuration. Moreover, the battery size powering this colossal SUV is a whopping >200 kWh. The pickup truck version of the EV makes a colossal 1,000 hp of peak power, while the SUV version limits the peak power output to 830 hp, which is still massive. There is an all-wheel-driving configuration to make the EV agile and manoeuvrable.

The most impressive part of this powertrain is the fact the despite being a heavy SUV and deriving such high power, the SUV boasts a decent range of 350 miles for the pickup version and 300 miles for the SUV version. Both these numbers are EPA-rated. To charge this bulky EV, there is an 800V architecture that supports 350 kW DC ultra-fast charging that charges 100 miles of range in 10 mins.
