- Next Generation of the popular Honda City-rival to launch in March 2023
- Various sightings suggest resemblance with latest Elantra sold abroad
In spite of being a no-show at this year’s Auto Expo, the next- generation 2023 Hyundai Verna looks all set to make its market debut in the last month of the current fiscal. The all-new version of the traditional Honda City-rival seems to be in the last phase of testing even as it refuses to shed any of that heavy camouflage. Ahead of the launch, the C2-segmenter was recently near Delhi-Faridabad border by one of our friends. The introduction of the new Verna should carry the momentum of action started by the introduction of the Skoda Slavia and VW Virtus.

Increased Dimensions
Going by the visuals we’ve come across so far, the 2023 Hyundai Verna seems to be a tad larger than the current version. The increased dimensions will play an important role wit helping the new model take on the likes of 5th-gen Honda City and the Skoda Slavia-VW Virtus duo. In terms of aesthetics, it looks like the new sedan will be a mini-me Elantra, especially when viewed from some angles. Safety expect the new model to offer traditional Hyundai styling cues such as an aggressively-styled front-end, bold creases and diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Sensuous Sportiness theme of the 2023 Hyundai Verna should actually help the sedan become the most flashy option in its class. The front-end will feature a wide grille neatly integrated with a well-sculpted bumper. The sleek LED headlamps would complete the sharp look of the facade. The rear-end will feature LED headlamps connected together by an LED light strip. Inside, the C2-segmenter will look and feel a fair bit like the latest Tucson. It would feature an all-digital speedo cluster along with a widescreen touchscreen infotainment unit. The highlights of the equipment list would include Level-1 ADAS, 360-degree camera, Bluelink, Ventilated Seats. Ambient Lights and electric sunroof. The carmaker is expected to have a high focus on safety and could offer at least 4 airbags as the part of the standard equipment list.

2023 Hyundai Verna Specifications
2023 Hyundai Verna will offer 1.5-litre petrol and Diesel engine options. In fact, in spite of the ever-tightening emission norms, the sedan will continue to be the only C2-segmenter to offer a Diesel engine option. Meanwhile, the petrol motor will be a segment-leading turbocharged mill producing 160PS and 260Nm. It will come mated to a 7-speed DCT. This is the same engine that will replace the 1.4-Turbo option on the Creta. A less powerful 1.5-litre petrol unit in a naturally-aspirated avatar could be offered as the base engine option in the interest of competitive pricing.
