At the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata Motors has revealed a production-ready Tata Sierra. It will come in turbo-petrol and EV versions.
Tata Motors has revealed 14 new products at the 2023 Auto Expo. However, the highlight remains the new-gen Sierra. The new model retains the DNA of the original version available in the 90s. However, instead of a three-door set-up, it offers a five-door set-up with conventionally operating doors. The all-new Tata Sierra comes with an EV and a Turbo-petrol powertrain options. It will be based on the carmaker’s Gen 2 platform. While the car seems ready to hit the production, its market launch will take place only in 2025. Let’s take a closer look at all the available details.

The latest iteration of the SUV is largely based on the concept Sierra seen at the Auto Expo 2020. That said, it comes with several changes in the aesthetics. The all-new Tata Sierra gets a new faux grille with headlamps connected with a futuristic-looking chrome stripe. It even comes with new alloy wheels and a five-door set-up with conventionally operating doors. The bonnet is now more upright and flatter. The height of the bonnet has also changed. However, the new model still comes with a large glasshouse and blacked-out C and D pillars.
The production-ready Tata Sierra will be based on a Gen 2 platform (similar to the Harrier EV). It will offer a longer range with more space for batteries and a more powerful electric motor. The electric version will come with AWD set-up and dual motors. There will be one motor on each axle that will provide individual power to the front and rear wheels. Tata Motors has also revealed that it will also offer a turbo-petrol engine variant. There will be no diesel engine in the line-up. The Harrier and Safari do not offer any petrol engine option.

The Tata Sierra turbo-petrol engine variant is likely to be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Altroz and Nexon. However, it might get an extra cylinder to offer a bump in power. The new petrol engine will offer around 160 Bhp of maximum power. While Tata Motors has not revealed all details, it is expected to offer both the Sierra EV and the ICE variants. As of now, the company has not revealed the price of the flagship model. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Jeep Meridian and Hyundai Tucson.
