Groom Wanted Toyota Fortuner Instead of Maruti WagonR
As per various reports, Siddharth demanded a Toyota Fortuner from the family of the bride merely a month before the wedding was scheduled to take place. However, he ended up calling off the wedding through a text he sent to the bride after her family refused to meet his demand. As per the FIR lodged by the bride’s family,“On October 10, 2022, the woman’s family booked a WagonR as a gift for the groom. Following this, a member from the groom’s family came to the bride’s house and demanded a Fortuner instead. However, the bride’s family refused their demand. On November 23, the lecturer called off the wedding.”
A case under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (Criminal Intimidation) and Dowry Act Sections has been registered against the lecturer. In another case, one Neetu Yadav from Etawah district had abruptly called off her wedding after taking to “pheras” as she found the groom’s complexion to be “too dark.” The bride is said to have contemplated cancelling the wedding after exchanging garlands with the groom. After taking two “pheras”, she abruptly announced her intention of calling off the wedding. She said she didn’t want to marry the guy as she didn’t like the colour of his skin.
