Ford Brazil has revealed that it will officially launch the Ford EcoSport at a starting price of Russian Real 53490 which at the present moment is approximately Rs. 14.60 Lakhs when converted to Indian currency. Interestingly, Ford Brazil has started taking online pre-launch bookings for the EcoSport and invited the first few thousand customers to make their booking for the first batch of 2012 Ford EcoSport on 14th of July 2012 which Ford Brazil called as EcoSport Day. The pricing of Rs. 14.60 lakhs may seem steep considering the expectations of Indian version to be priced starting Rs. 7 Lakhs or so. The reason behind the same is different engine and features offered in Brazilian market. Also the tax structure and pricing is much different from India. The global Ford Fiesta costs around Rs. 5 Lakhs more in Brazil when compared to Indian model which is because of the country specific model, features, compliance etc. So expect the base model of EcoSport in India to be priced close to Rs. 7.5 Lakhs which will be launched somewhere in early 2013.
Ford Brazil recently commenced an event in Brazil called the EcoSport Parade to create buzz among the Brazilian customers. It lowered the EcoSport from a crane from a height of about 40 feel above the ground to catch people’s attention. A lot of activities and attraction were created to gather people’s attention towards the new EcoSport in Brazil. The deliveries of EcoSport are expected to start in Brazil around August or September 2012 making it the first country in the worlds to get the Ford EcoSport compact SUV.
Brazil will get the entry level variant called the EcoSport S with a 1.6 Litre petrol engine and will have a 5 speed manual transmission, ABS and Airbags etc. Apart form this, there will be three mode models in the EcoSport’s Brazilian lineup inducing the SE, Freestyle and Titanium top end model which may feature a more powerful petrol engine and the top end may also get a dual clutch powershift automatic transmission found in the Fiesta automatic.
