It was 2004 when Hyundai launched the Hyundai Elantra sedan in the premium car market in India. Then, the car used to come as a CBU and was pricier. In 2007, Hyundai discontinued the import of the Elantra but now after 5 long years, the fifth generation of Hyundai Elantra is all set to hit the Indian shores.
Gaadi.com have revealed the specifications and details of the upcoming Elantra. Hyundai’s new Fluidic design language has done wonders for it and that is why the company waited so long to reintroduce the Elantra to the domestic market. In International markets, the Elantra has claimed many awards and titles to itself and continues to be in good demand in western countries including the US. The Indian version of Hyundai Elantra will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. Known as Hyundai i40 in international market, the diesel variant of the car will be powered by a 1582 CC CRDI diesel engine producing 128 PS @ 4000 RPM of max power and peak torque of 261 Nm @ 1900 to 2750 RPM.
The Petrol version of the car will be powered by a 1797 CC multi-point fuel injection petrol engine that will put out 149.5 PS @ 6500 RPM and 166 Nm @ 4700 RPM of peak torque. Both the petrol and diesel variants will feature 6 speed manual transmission and 6 speed automatic transmission.
Dimension wise the car is 4530 mm in length, 1775 mm in width, 1470 mm in height and has a 2700 mm long wheelbase.
