In the latest NCAP tests, Maruti Swift, Ignis and S-Presso managed to score 1 star each. With these results, the abysmal performance of popular Maruti products continues. All of these vehicles regularly feature in the top 10 best-selling cars in the country month after month. However, apart from the Brezza compact SUV, no car in the Maruti’s camp has a decent safety score on the NCAP tests. These latest results confirm that it is likely to remain this way going forward as well.

Maruti Swift NCAP Result
Swift was able to get just 19.19 points out of a possible 34 in the adult protection category getting 1 star. There is good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck. The driver’s chest showed weak protection while the passenger’s chest had adequate protection in the test. The bodyshell was rated as unstable and will not be able to withstand further loadings. The footwell area was also rated as unstable. In the child occupant protection category, Swift managed to get 0 stars by scoring just 16.68 points out of a possible 49.

Maruti Ignis NCAP Result
Ignis managed to score just 16.48 points out of 34 in the adult protection section good for just 1 star. The driver’s and passenger’s head and neck displayed good protection, while the driver’s chest showed weak protection while the passenger’s chest had adequate protection in the test. The bodyshell was rated as unstable and will not be able to withstand further loadings. The footwell area was also rated as stable. In the child occupant protection area, Ignis managed to get a disappointing 3.86 points out of 49 for a 0-star rating.

Maruti S-Presso NCAP Result
S-Presso scored 1 star in the adult occupant protection category by scoring 20.03 points out of 34. The driver’s and passenger’s head and neck showed good protection, while the driver’s chest showed poor protection. The passenger’s chest showed marginal protection. In terms of the footwell area, it was rated as unstable and the bodyshell was also rated as unstable unable to withstand further loadings.
