Audi India was established in in 2004 by Volkswagen Group India and now in 2012 it has become the second largest Luxury car manufacturer in India after BMW overtaking Mercedes Benz. Audi India has received overwhelming response to it latest offering such as all new Audi A4, A6, and newly launched Audi Q3 in India as well as all around the world. And now the German Luxury Automobile maker has realized the increasing demand and need to develop its SUV (Sports Utility Market). Audi realizes the potential of the ever rising sales in the SUV segment across different price segments across various markets in the world so it is working to expand its offerings in this area.
Audi has a restricted line up of SUV in the market, Audi’s Q5, Q7 and the latest of all Q3. Now the company wants to extend it Q line up and wants to introduce new crossovers and SUV to its stable and for that Audi has adopted a very aggressive strategy which includes introduction of new models Audi Q2, Audi Q4, Audi Q6 and Q8. First to be introduced will be the Q2 which will be based on the platform of Audi A1 compact and will fill the slot below Q3 and will be powered with an engine similar in A1. The next on the card will be the Range Rover Evoque competitor that is the Q4, the new Q4 will share most of its bits with the Q5 the only change to see will be the roofline which is expected to be chopped just over two inches.
The Q4 will be placed between Q3 and Q5 and is expected to be powered with the Audi’s 2.0-liter turbo diesel with 170 BHP and 210 BHP or a 240 BHP 3.0-liter V6 diesel. While the other two the Q6 and Q8 are still in development stage so there is less information available on them. Audi’s baby SUV that is the Q2 is expected to be launched in the 2013 and the Q8 in 2018. The pricing will be main concern but as per the recent marketing and pricing strategies by Audi expect the price to be very competitive and ground breaking.
