Tata Safari
Back in the day, Tata Safari used to be a premium SUV in our market. Many celebrities owned one. Its rugged build and off-road prowess made it quite popular during its time. It used to come with a powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine that produced 140 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. It was priced at around 14 lakh.

Toyota Fortuner
Politicians often use large SUVs to reach the far-flung areas of the country, as well as to address the audience during large rallies. In such scenarios, there is hardly any SUV better than the mighty Toyota Fortuner at this moment. The popular 7-seat SUV comes powered by a 204 PS/500 Nm diesel engine with a ton of off-roading kit. Currently, the prices of the SUV range from Rs 32.40 lakh to Rs 49.57 lakh, ex-showroom.

Mercedes 350 CDI
The 350 CDI was also a popular luxury SUV in our market a few years ago. Many influential personalities from the world of politics, cricket and Bollywood used to have one. The SUV came with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel that produced 258 hp and 619 Nm and had an AWD configuration. The price was over Rs 70 lakh. This luxury SUV is often used by CM Yogi but is actually a state-owned vehicle.

Toyota Land Cruiser
We already know that the waiting period for the current-gen Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is 4 years in the international market. However, it was not always the case. Despite being well-known for its capabilities, it was relatively more readily available until the last-gen models. It used to come with a 4.4-litre diesel engine that used to output 262 hp and 650 Nm of peak power and torque. The price, even a few years ago was well over Rs 1.20 Crore. Even this luxury SUV is often used by CM Yogi but is actually a state-owned vehicle.

Mercedes ML 500
Like Yogi, Akhilesh also owns the older version of the Mercedes SUV. Mercedes ML 500 was the pinnacle of luxury and comfort in the premium SUV segment in India back in the day. The massive 3.5-litre petrol engine produced 276 hp and the SUV used to cost around Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom.

Volvo XC90
Volvo is typically known for manufacturing cars with a prime focus on safety. The flagship XC90 is no different. Akhilesh has been spotted in his Volvo XC90 multiple times.
